Did you know?
At Perfect Smile, we have offered mercury free dentistry since 1986.
Amalgam is a mercury-based filling material. In contrast to amalgam, composite resin is tooth-coloured and provides a more attractive and appealing smile without nasty metals that can leach into your body.
Composite Resins are made of ceramic and plastic compounds that complement the appearance of natural tooth colour. Thanks to advancements in dental technology, this material is now strong enough to withstand normal functional force in the mouth.
Our Dentists here at Perfect Smile use composite resin bonding for preventive and restorative treatments.
Preventive Resin Restorations (PRRs)
Some molar teeth have deep grooves in the biting surface; these grooves are very hard to clean and unfortunately are great for trapping food which can make the tooth very susceptible to decay. PRRs are a preventive coating of composite resin over the deep grooves in molar teeth; this allows for much easier cleaning and reduces the risk of decay.
Composite Resin Restorations
Composite resin bonding is a direct procedure, so it is done in the dental chair and completed in one appointment.
Composite Resin can be used to restore teeth which have been chipped, broken, have been affected by decay or for a solution for your cosmetic concerns.
Sometimes due to insufficient tooth structure or a need for stronger material teeth may need more involved treatment, such as porcelain crowns, root canal treatment, extraction, implants. Our Dentists can provide all the options and information for you to make an informed decision.
