If you are looking for a way to discreetly straighten your smile that does not involve braces, we offer Invisalign.
Traditionally, braces were the only way to straighten your teeth. This meant 18 to 24 months with braces, metal wires and brackets bonded to your teeth. Invisalign is a no-braces treatment that allows patients to get the treatment they need without anyone noticing.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign are clear aligners that incrementally straighten your teeth. You will wear your aligners for a few weeks before progressing to the next set. The number of aligners you require will depend on the amount of movement.
When you visit Perfect Smile Adelaide for a consultation we will assess your oral health and determine what the best course of action for your oral health is. If invisilign is the preferred treatment to improve your smile we will take impressions of your teeth and send it off to the laboratory.
Approximately two weeks later you will return to our dental practice where we will fit your first set of aligners. Generally, depending on the rate of progress, we will see you every two to eight weeks after that to change your aligners for the set in the process.
Invisalign and its advantages over traditional braces
Once traditional braces are bonded to your teeth they don’t come off until the treatment is complete. With Invisalign you can remove them to eat, drink, for photos and special events. The advantage of being able to remove the aligners of your own volition are you can brush and floss your teeth normally: although you must brush your teeth before placing the aligners back.
Being able to remove them means there’s no awkward few weeks where you are required to go on a soft food diet while your teeth and gums adjust to the wires and brackets. You also can bite into a steak without worrying about breaking brackets or wires.
Your compliance is required
With this form of treatment your Perfect Smile dentist will explain how many hours per day you will need to wear your aligners. Typically you will be required to wear your aligners for 22 hours a day, wearing your aligners for less than the prescribed time may prolong treatment and compromise expected results.
If you are looking for a way to discreetly straighten your teeth that doesn’t impact your social or professional life, Invisalign could be the best option for you.
