Your frequently asked questions answered for your convenience
At Perfect Smile in Adelaide, we take the time to educate our patients about the importance of oral health. Here’s a list of the most commonly asked questions we receive from our patients.
In order to keep our fees at a reasonable level we ask that our patients pay their accounts at the time of treatment. We offer HICAPS and EFTPOS for your convenience. Finance is available through GEMVisa.
Your teeth will always be lighter than they were before whitening. You may need to use your home whitening kit to “touch up” once or twice a year or prior to a special occasion. Factors that can have an effect on the success of your whitening are those things that stain teeth like smoking, drinking coffee, tea and red wine.
In-surgery whitening with Zoom will take about 2 hours in the chair. A home maintenance kit will be provided for you at no extra charge and should be used following your in-surgery procedure to maximise your result.
Once a treatment plan is formulated appointments are made to suit your needs. Some people like to have one or two long visits whereas others prefer short appointments. We can guide you but the choice is yours, whatever makes you comfortable emotionally and economically. Most cosmetic dentistry only takes 1-2 visits. Amalgam removal is usually done a quadrant at a time and hence takes up to 4 visits.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how affordable it is to enhance your smile. We offer gap free cosmetic consultations so you have nothing to lose except your time.
The Dental Implant process involves several steps and the overall treatment period varies between patients. The typical treatment is carried out over several months, but in some cases Implants can be placed and restored immediately.
The cost will be determined by the number of Implants that are placed and the type of prosthesis recommended for your particular case. This can only be determined after a thorough examination by a Dentist.
Our fee is $2750.00 for the abutment and crown. The Oral Surgeon’s fee is approx. $2200.00.
A single implant works out to be approx. $4950.00. This includes Oral Surgeon, the anaesthetist, hospital, hardware and the crown.
The Oral Surgeon and we discount multiple implants but each case differs. Implants are the ideal way to go if it is within your affordability range.
Your insurance coverage will depend on your individual plan. We suggest you come in for a no gap consultation to assess how many Implants you require. We can then give you the item numbers for your individual case so you can check your rebate from the health fund.
Anaesthesia is used during the surgical procedure to eliminate any discomfort. Most patients indicate minimal discomfort or no pain at all. Most patients can return to work the next day.
A Dental Implant is a small “anchor” made of titanium. It acts as an artificial tooth root that is inserted into the jawbone to replace missing natural teeth. They make an attractive alternative to dentures and bridges.
We are preferred providers for BUPA, Medibank Private, HCF and Dentacare. There are certain procedures that fall outside the terms of agreement with some schemes and accordingly have a special agreed gap payment.
Definitely not! Dr Henbest has been providing mercury free dental care since 1986. We will only use tooth coloured composite resin to restore your teeth.
Composite resin material is cured to its full strength before you leave the surgery so you can eat or drink as soon as you like, however if you have local anaesthetic you need to make sure you don’t have anything too hot and risk burning yourself.
The cost of extracting wisdom teeth can vary depending on the level of complexity. As a guide, extractions start at about $150.00.
We recommend that you have your teeth examined and cleaned every six months. X-rays should be taken at least every 2 years.
Brushing with an electric toothbrush is 2 times better than using a manual toothbrush. The head of an electric toothbrush is the same size as a tooth and adapts better to the gum margin.
Teeth have natural pits and fissures which are extremely difficult to clean and are very susceptible to decay because they are often directly linked to the underlying dentine. We recommend these pits and fissures are fully explored, tested for decay and filled with composite resin. This creates a smooth surface, which is very much easier to keep clean. With regular brushing and flossing and six monthly dental examinations with our dentist we can virtually guarantee these teeth will remain decay free.
No. Technology has a huge bearing on the comfort level of patients. We also use topical anaesthetic, which numbs your gum as part of the painless procedure. Cosmetic procedures are completely pain free and rarely require any anaesthetic.
We encourage parents to bring their children to visit us as soon as their first birthday or when their first tooth erupts. This allows your child to receive the dental treatment they need to detect, prevent and remedy any dental concerns before they arise.
